Natureboy is the debut from Sara Kermanshahi, a Brooklyn girl with a heavy Iranian background who goes by Natureboy. After a few bands on the West Coast, she made her way out east and settled in indie hotspot Brooklyn, NY. The album mostly revolves around her voice and a guitar, but backwards guitar samples (“Pariah”), eerie build-ups (“Famous Sons”), drone tones/whistling (“Over and Out”) all find their place. The biggest obstacle that Sara faces is that wall of unoriginality that hits most acoustic artists, but without a doubt, she blows through that with her curiously attractive voice and delicate writing style. Natureboy will get its official release in early July from Own Records, who have also released Trouble Books‘ albums in the UK, but no word on the plan for the US.
