Owen Hart does a great job of taking ridiculous awesome riffs that make you want to mosh, yet headbang at the same time. "Earth Control" has them taking on even more of a metal edge, which just makes them sound evil as fuck at times. Great release, anyone who is a fan of metal tinged hardcore should check this out.

Burning Love - Songs for Burning Lovers (2010)
It's Chris Colohan from Cursed's band, so you have an idea of what it sounds like already (if you haven't already listened to it). It sounds like Cursed but less hardcore and more rock n roll. It's like Bars but WAY WAY heavier. Heavy, sludgy and straight up rockin. Shit is serious. Shit is good.

Kidcrash
Kidcrash are quite possibly the best band to ever come out of the genre of emo/screamo/whinyfaggotbullshit. Next to City of Caterpillar and Damezumari, they're one of the best ever. Here is everything that they've released so far:
Jokes:http://www.mediafire.com/?xnzzzolutum
Mispellings (Split 5" w/ Arse Moreira (or however the fuck you spell it)):

Split 10" w/ Coffin Dancer (Coffin Dancer side slays):http://www.mediafire.com/?mnjtjjjldzt
New Ruins:http://www.mediafire.com/?mnjtjjjldzt
New Ruins is really pop-punk and stuff, and it's from a time when the band was known as "The Kidcrash." After getting fucked over by Lujo Records, they dropped the "The" from their name and became even more fucking badass.

Turnip

Comic Time
Ignition City is a five-issue science fiction comic book limited series, written by Warren Ellis and illustrated by Gianluca Pagliarani.
Publication history
Ellis initially conceived the plot in 2005. After some brief initial work in 2006 the series was not mentioned again until after the release of his Aetheric Mechanics in 2008.[1] Inspirations included the Flash Gordon and Buck Rogers serials, the show Deadwood, the band Abney Park, the film Metropolis, the Berlin Tegel Airport, Ray Bradbury's short story "Rocket Summer", Alan Moore's comic The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, and his own Ministry of Space comic (which was in turn inspired by Dan Dare).[2][3]
[edit] Plot
Ignition City is set in an atompunk/dieselpunk alternate history, by the year of 1956, where World War II was interrupted by a Martian invasion. As a result, space travel became commonplace. Ignition City itself is a circular island spaceport, the interior of which is populated by former spacemen. The story follows Mary Raven, a young woman who travels to Ignition City after her father, a formerly famous spaceman named Rock Raven, is killed there.[4]
[edit] Characters
Mary Raven - former astronaut and daughter of the space hero Rock Raven, comes to Ignition City to investigate the death of her father.
Rock Raven - British space hero, veteran of campaigns against the Martians and thus possibly inspired by Dan Dare.
Lionel "Buster" Crabb - British government official, a friend to Mary and her father. Based on the real life Navy officer thought captured and brainwashed by the Russians, although his nickname appears to be an allusion to the American actor, Buster Crabbe, who played Flash Gordon early in his career.
Lightning Bowman - one of the first three humans in space (alongside Gayle Bowman and Doc Vukovic), now marooned in Ignition City. Inspired by Flash Gordon.
Gayle Ransom - former lover of Lighting Bowman, and another of the first three humans in space, now a bar-owner and gun-runner in Ignition City. Inspired by Dale Arden.
Dr. Dragomir Vukovic, AKA 'Doc Vukovic' - another of the first three humans in space, he built the original spaceship out of junk parts. Inspired by Dr. Hans Zarkov.
Kharg the Killer - dictator of the planet Khargu and ally of Adolf Hitler, who was defeated by Lightning Bowman, Gayle Ransom, and Doc Vukovic. Inspired by Ming the Merciless.
Bronco - drunken customer in Gayle Bowman's bar who talks of his time spent five centuries in the future, and thus analogous to Buck Rogers.
Piet Vanderkirk - Gayle Bowman's right-hand man. Former member of the Navy's Solar Patrol in the Pluto Detachment, part of "The Chain" which appears to refer to a psychically linked group of soldiers using gifted alien technology, similar to E. E. Smith's Lensmen.
Yuri - washed-up "Russia's greatest cosmonaut", since disavowed and abandoned in Ignition City.
Marshal Pomeroy - Corrupt lawman of the Ignition City settlement. Flies with the aid of a jet pack, reminiscent of Commando Cody.

Indian Summer Discography
From Wikipedia**
Indian Summer was an early and influential American post-hardcore band originally from Oakland, California. Their sound leaned heavily on loud-soft dynamics. Many of their songs built up to chaotic, cathartic climaxes.
The band released a full 7" on Repercussion Records, split 7" with Embassy, and split 7 inches with Current and Ordination of Aaron. They also released a song on the Eucalyptus compilation (2x7") on Tree Records, a song on the Food Not Bombs compilation LP on Inchworm Records, and a song on the Ghost Dance compilation (2x7") on Slave Cut Records. The discography Science 1994 was released in 2002/2008 and Hidden Arithmetic, an entirely live album consisting of one live set and a live radio appearance, in 2006, both on the Future Recordings label.

Girls Names - You Should Know By Now (2010)
Girls Names is a Northern Irish band based in Belfast that got signed by Brooklyn's awesome record label Captured Tracks. Although originally an duo, they've grown into a three-piece and they make some gorgeous noise pop. You Should Know By Now is an EP and their initial release in the US, but hopefully more will follow soon. I wish I could provide some really solid comparisons, but pulling a references from the depths of my music archive is remarkably difficult for me. Anyhow, my best shot at the moment is Crystal Stilts, Suicide and Fungi Girls, yet something in me says there is a very obvious something I am forgetting, Jesus & Mary Chain most likely. They're sneaky and omnipresent. No matter the references, Girls Names are spot on for what I am currently looking for musically, and I've got to bet you'll like them a whole lot too.

Ra Calium - Leaving EP (2010) & Walkabout (2010)
Ra Cailum is the moniker for a Midwestern electronic musician, taken from the popular anime show Gundam as far as I can tell. The music is synth-heavy and involves liberal samples of vocals and retro-sounding effects. Almost seems like the sort of music one might here in a Gundam-like show or a old sci-fi film but made far more appealing through deft composition. Ra Cailum does seem to be on the mellower side overall, at least compared to bands like Beat Connection or Neon Indian. Leaving EP fits well as a set up to the longer ablum, Walkabout. In fact, a track called "Evergreens" on the EP was a titular follow up on the full-length in "Evergreens (pt. II)." This makes sense, as they were release quite close to one another and contain the same mood throughout them. I know that Walkabout is being given out for free by the artist on last.fm and other places. I assume the same is the case for the Leaving EP but throw him a bone and buy his merch, show support =)

Ghost Animal - Summertime In Heaven (2010)
You don't realize how much you love the wall of sound until you haven't heard it in a bit. Indeed, this is how I felt when I heard Ghost Animal (and I did notice the frequent use of "ghost" and "animal" band names). Another is the linage of bands that bridges the space between shoegaze and garage rock, Ghost Animal reflects the current trends just as previous groups like the Raveonettes showed the more poppy garage rock sound of the earlier part of the decade. Shoegaze for fans of the Moonhearts, Ty Segall, Bare Wires or Tyvek is a good way to think of it. It is loud, fuzzed out and lo-fi while keeping the droning background that makes shoegaze so fantastic. Although I know I am prone to hyperbole, and hey, why get down on musicians that make something genuine? Nonetheless, Ghost Animal has made a real fucking amazing album with Summertime In Heaven. Holy Moses you need to get off your duff, or stay right on it, and get this album and hear it now.

HellMouth

Tigers Jaw – Two Worlds (2010)

Innards 2010
screamo/math-rock
Innards is a newly formed screamo band from Fort Worth, Texas formed from current members of Nouveaux Riches/Jubilee and Zwounds. Innards is unique in that they combine math rock and screamo and have both chaotic and melodic parts. Also they have two singers which makes the band very epic at times. The band recently went on tour and this release is their tour EP. Band definitely ups the skramz.

Uninhabitable Mansions.

.E.M.'s Chronic Town is still one of the best records I've ever heard. I love much of their IRS material (as well as later stuff,) but that EP is the perfect embodiment of their early sound and is classic of the decade. I'm sure none of you are asking yourself what would have happened if R.E.M. became far less-talented songwriters and decided to stick to a watered-down version of that sound for the entirety of their careers, but if for some reason you are, look no further for an answer than Miracle Legion!
Miracle Legion doesn't have a very deep (though, it is very large) catalog nor are they even recognized for their greatest achievement as a band, but that doesn't mean they aren't worth checking out! As a matter of fact, their debut EP, a total R.E.M.-rip off, is still incredible! The EP actually kicks off with my two favorite Miracle Legion songs, so it's kinda downhill from there, but The Backyard never becomes too boring or even pointless. Moments like the title track, "Butterflies," and "Just Say Hello" are pure jangle pop genius. The album is a perfect autumn record for running around with a loved one in some leaves or some shit. I don't know much about that.
The band scraped the mainstream with this EP, even playing on Letterman! However, it took them years to properly follow it up and by then everyone had forgotten. Oh, and their new material just wasn't as good. Still, the band managed to have a banger here and there, they just weren't able to keep up the momentum for an entire release. Still, we're left with an excellent EP and one of the best theme songs ever written. Thank you, Pol...er....Miracle Legion by Adam from:http://icoulddietomorrow.blogspot.com

maserati-pyramid-of-sun-2010
Maserati is that make some of my favorite instrumental music. It is intense, complex and quick yet doesn't confuse. Basically, you can focus on listening to it or you can use it as background to something else, such as reading Marvel Noir comics There are like most Maserati albums a couple of the epic tracks on Pyramid of the Sun that slowly build and transform in imaginative ways. It is the sorta album you could immediately replay and hardly notice you're rehearing anything. If you like any of their previous stuff or bands like Lebanon, Kinski or This Will Destroy you.

Tim Kasher( Cursive)
**The Game of Monogamy**
From Wikipedia:
The Game of Monogamy is the first solo album by Cursive and The Good Life frontman Tim Kasher. It was release on 5 October 2010 in the UK.
Late last fall Tim Kasher went north for the winter after nearly a year of touring in support of Cursive's 2009 release Mama, I'm Swollen. Leaving sunny Los Angeles, it was in the frosty valley of Whitefish, MT nestled next to Big Mountain and Glacier National Park that he set about writing and recording his debut solo album.
The Game of Monogamy is conceptually a scathing, doubtful, near-mocking account of the common commitment made between one man and one woman. Filled with theatrical arrangements and lush instrumentation, ornamented with strings, harp, oboe, flute, and trombone, among other instruments. The songs vary in sound from vibrant and catchy ("Cold Love", "I'm Afraid I'm Gonna Die Here") to sweeping and grand ("No Fireworks", "Monogamy"), and from hushed and spare ("Strays", "The Prodigal Husband"), to urgent and fraught ("A Grown Man", "Bad, Bad Dreams").
The Album features musical assistance from members of Cursive and Minus the Bear.
[edit] Track listing
1."Monogamy Overture"
2."A Grown Man"
3."I'm Afraid I'm Gonna Die Here"
4."Strays"

Pop Unknown

Modest Mouse - The Lonesome Crowded West 1997
Genre: Indie
For Fans Of: Music
Track List:
- Teeth Like God's Shoeshine
- Heart Cooks Brain
- Convenient Parking
- Lounge (Closing Time)
- Jesus Christ Was An Only Child
- Doin' The Cockroach
- Cowboy Dan
- Trailer Trash
- Out of Gas
- Long Distance Drunk
- Shit Drunk
- Trucker Atlas
- Polar Opposites
- Bankrupt on Selling
- Styrofoam Boats/It's All Nice On Ice, Alright
Description:
I'm sure everyone here has heard the name Modest Mouse and at least have heard the song "Float On" from their more recent album "Good News for People Who Love Bad News." However, the band's earlier material is really where the showcase their music brilliance and innovation. This album, released in 1997 is their best album (in my opinion) and one of the best displays of indie rock in the history of music. Every single song is filled with emotion and revolutionary musicianship for the time. The highlight of the band is easily frontman Issac Brock's lyrics, vocal delivery, and guitar work. Brock isn't afraid to speak his mind, and Modest Mouse is known for having some of the best (albeit abstract) lyrics in modern music. He utilizes metaphor, clever wordplay, and religious imagery to expand on the several recurring themes that Brock explores throughout the record. Aside from the lyrics, the musicianship is young and reckless, but still magnificent and sure to impress anyone (especially those hearing it for the first time). All I can say is that if by the end of the first song you aren't sold, you should reconsider how you listen to music, because "Teeth Like God's Shoeshine" is one of the most beautiful and poignant songs ever written. Seriously get on this.

S. Carey All We Grow 2010
Let's get this out of the way now because I'm sure he already knows he will never outlive the comparisons: This is the drummer of Bon Iver. Yes, he is close friends with Justin Vernon. Yes, it utilizes the same formula, incorporating the same sort of curl-up-and-cry in a cabin in the woods atmospheric ambient folk type music. Hell, it even has the same number of tracks as For Emma. Is it as good as the aforementioned Bon Iver album? I'll admit that I doubted him at first, but if not this comes extremely close. S. Carey is phenomenal at building a mood through his lovely fingerpicking, vocal layering, piano, and sparse drumming to create one of the most instantly beautiful albums I've heard in some time. This is a record that I feel can only be fully appreciated alone. While the ties to Bon Iver are certainly going to help how fast this album spreads, it can quite easily stand on it's own. This is going to hopefully take a lot of people by surprise, and it's something you'll want to have by your side as fall and winter approach.

The BrOnx-The Bronz 2
Label: Swami
Year: 2006
This record came out on a couple different labels, on a couple different formats, but this is the superior version, the vinyl version Swami put out, 1000 pressed complete with two bonus tracks. Also of note, this is the second of three self titled lps The Bronx have released to this point. I can see how you could get confused.
Did you ever hear The Bronx? Do you like Murder City Devils, but sometimes wish they would 86 the keyboards? Then you'd probably like The Bronx. Do you like Rocket From The Crypt, but sometimes wish they would 86 the horns? Then you'd probably like The Bronx. Do you like cameo appearances from the lesser known and least important members of Guns N Roses? Then you'd probably like The Bronx. Do you like fat, balding, men with little-to-no night vision? Then you'd probably like me.

Matt K. Shrugg - Gone Ashtray (2010)
his is another release from Tic Tac Totally. The information I found on Matt K. Shrugg is that he's in the bands Pizzas and Zodiac Killers. I've not gotten the chance to listen to either of these groups, but I easily found this solo album. Naturally, the sound of the record is similar to many of the other posts. Noticing that I have a mild obsession? Anyway, what makes this stand out a bit is that he seems more adventurous in his composition. While there is nothing wrong with the loud garage punk I have posted thus far, in fact I can't get enough of it, this is a nice lesson on how the style can be pushed around. Not every song can be considered as venturesome, but they surely will get the heart pulsating. They're selling this shit on vinyl too, which is pretty great and I don't point that out often enough.

The Bitters - Have a Nap Hotel (2010)
I just recently snatched up some music by the Bitters because of the frequency I saw their name popping up when reading about some of the other recently posted bands. This absolutely falls within my current theme of noise, punk, and garage. Have a Nap Hotel is just an EP, as I haven't given sufficient listening time to the full-length they've also released this year. As this post is being done shortly before I have to prepare for work I am gonna keep it tight. There's distortion, loud drumming, ghostly singing and all sorts of appealing qualities. Basically, it is a good listen but certainly not the most amazing thing I've heard lately. However, I think that bar is pretty high so see what you think of it and let me know.

GeorGe Trio_Open Mputh, O Wisp
One of them albums that makes you hate me even more. Piano, guitar, and drums, all seemingly improv, but the inclusion of the track "Intimate Addition," probably the most intense tropical song to ever exist, suggests otherwise, leaving you to speculate on whether or not these guys are just making noise. I guess it's up to you to decide.

Black Pyramid – Black Pyramid

Ra Ra Riot: The Orchard
After The Rhumb Line getting mediocre reception (despite me absolutely loving it) I was curious to see where the group would go, if anywhere. Luckily we have The Orchard, a continuation of the bands warm chamber-pop sound infused with violin and cello with added doses of melancholy and slower paces. The strings add so much to the slower songs, and the band still writes great upbeat tunes like Boy and Too Dramatic which wouldn't feel at all out of place on The Rhumb Line. Not really that much of a departure but possibly an improvement from one of my favorite indie-pop acts.

Petethepiratesquid and Grave, Shovel... Lets Go!
This is the split between the two incredible bands Petethepiratesquid and Grave, Shovel... Lets Go!
GSLG keeps their old style, and it sounds really really good. Just as it did on the demo and the split with Me And Goliath. I've been waiting to hear new stuff from them, and to hear that they are still as good as they were before makes me glad.
The same kind of goes with the squids, they keep on doing what they do best, playing music their way. Some new songs, like Kafka Fanshirt, is A+ material.

Comanechi - Crime Of Love (2009)
t is simply a mistake on my part not to have posted this earlier. Back when this blog was pretty new I posted an EP by Comanechi that I'd become enamored with and still go back to listen to regularly. While those were rough cuts of some of the tracks that appear on this debut album by this English duo. It is some rather intense garage punk/noise that falls in line with bands like Coachwhips, the Hunches, and the Intelligence. Unlike those groups though, it features a female vocalist which begs comparisons to Best Coast or Vivian Girls, but I do believe quite noticeably Comanechi is heavier and louder. She is one of the hottest singers I've seen though, I suggest googling some photos. I really recommend this if you've been keen on the other garage stuff about lately.

Kvelertak – Kvelertak (2010)
¿Black n’ Roll? Mas bien diría hardcore punk con black metal bien cañero y sludge. En general es un disco muy entretenido. Se los recomiendo mucho.

Anti You

MiNiaTure Tigers Fortress 2010
I've only had one listen through so far, but having not been a huge fan of Tell It To The Volcano which from what I can remember seemed a little bit too sunny, I can say that I'm pleased with the direction they took on this one. It's strange to say the least, and if you were a fan of the band previous to this you might be let down, but I think it's a pretty cool release. Download it yourself and tell me what you think, assfucks.

Spirituals – Spirituals
http://www.myspace.com/tylertadlockspirituals
Spirituals is the moniker of Jackson, MS-native, jazz lover, and electronic genius, Tyler Tadlock. His debut album is a sexual fusion of pseudo-jazz and sample-heavy IDM, with a result that’s nothing short of perfection. Opening track “Wanderings” moves progressively through glitchy synth-based samplings and a drum-n-bongo beatmaker, but leads into perhaps my favorite track, “Pilsner,” where the jazz influence is beyond evident. Beginning with a few measures of sly drumming, Tadlock builds it into a cohesive flow of xylophones and sax samples. Also included here is non-album track, “You Would’ve Faked It,” a Stereogum-loved floating gem that really should have made the cut. Expect ten tracks of electro-jazz beauty on Spirituals, a mind-massaging experience, much like if Flying Lotus took some ritalin and then ate a bunch of lemon-lime popsicles. Waaga Records dropped Spirituals on June 22nd digitally and no news of a physical release, but will be releasing a remix EP for “Wanderings” on August 24th.

And They Say Demo
Finally, here's And They Says demo. Personally I really enjoy this, I've been enjoying everything they've done from the start, and to finally get to hear it well recorded is just amazing.
They mix spoken parts with clarinets with catchy melodies and screams filled with angst. Download this, one of the best screamo-bands in Sweden right now.

The Abyssinians - Satta Massagana (1976 [1993])
The date on this post seems confusing because this album has been released numerous times with additionally song or in reworked ways, and I do apologize if I got the details of this one wrong at all. I believe this is a 1993 reissue with some added tracks. This is the first roots reggae album I've ever post, and it holds a legendary status among them. The Abyssinians are from Jamaica, as could be assumed, and sung song deeply informed by their Rastafarian beliefs. While religious tenants are obvious in the album, it does not come off a proselytizing, and I don't believe that was the intention for the band. As people who read this blog regularly might have concluded, I am not really worried about particularities of lyrics that much anyhow. I am not a fan big fan of some reggae yet I do especially like dub music, which is what The Abyssinians moved toward in successive years. This is really an awesomely smooth album that I imagine can be enjoyed with or without mind-altering substances. The fact that it had a relatively large cultural impact on Jamaican music and indeed music beyond the island is an interesting bonus. I've taken a liking to listening to it before I go to bed as it really calms me down after work. I have to thank my buddy Johnny for suggesting I download it and hope you'll do likewise and get it.

Fidel CaTasTrophe :And The Bleak Shall Inherit The Earth
Fidel Catastrophe is headed by the Original bassist of the Pomegranates (they're on their 3rd bassist right now), who is clearly a force to be reckoned with. They've signed with Band Camp, a label I'm growing more and more enamored of, though I'm surprised that anticon didn't swipe these guys first. They put me in mind of a poppy, concise version of Thee More Shallows combined with a less nasally and less rap-prone Yoni Wolf.
They also only have 3 songs available for download right now, and I've had them on repeat all day. I'm in band-love, guys. Deep, deep band-love. As far as I can tell, they're pressing vinyl right now, so there aren't any tracks on what.cd or waffles.fm. I want an album! The suspense is killing me!

Natureboy is the debut from Sara Kermanshahi, a Brooklyn girl with a heavy Iranian background who goes by Natureboy. After a few bands on the West Coast, she made her way out east and settled in indie hotspot Brooklyn, NY. The album mostly revolves around her voice and a guitar, but backwards guitar samples (“Pariah”), eerie build-ups (“Famous Sons”), drone tones/whistling (“Over and Out”) all find their place. The biggest obstacle that Sara faces is that wall of unoriginality that hits most acoustic artists, but without a doubt, she blows through that with her curiously attractive voice and delicate writing style. Natureboy will get its official release in early July from Own Records, who have also released Trouble Books‘ albums in the UK, but no word on the plan for the US.

I saw this group of Swedes open up for Alkaline Trio a few summers ago. They kinda have a new-wave/post punk feel going on. Despite the fact that the crowd was obviously there for Alkaline Trio and Bayside, these guys won a bunch of people over.

Oneohtrix Point Never - Returnal
More awesome music from this dude. This new one is really cool, it starts out on this kinda noisy track with lots of random bits kinda thrown in their, reminds me of some of his stuff from KGB man. The rest of the stuff on their is what you would mostly expect to hear on an Oneohtrix record I suppose, but that can't really be a bad thing. Definitely a good listen for the summer too, enjoy!

White Pigs "Songs of Sin
Used to correspond with these Connecticut freaks. Excellent band with a chaotic sound of flesh ripping metal and grave robbing hardcore. They put out a handful of releases that predates the entire crossover trend of the 80's, releasing a single as far back as 1984.

Chamberlain – Fate’s Got A Driver
Tracklist:
01. Her Side Of Sundown
02. Street Singer
03. Yellow Like Gold
04. Five Year Diary
05. Uniontown
06. Surrendering The Ghost
07. Drums And Shotguns

The afternoon-gentlemen

Reef The Lost Cauze
Fight Music
Enemy Soil | 2010
Colaboran Vinnie Paz, R.A The Rugged Man, Kool G Rap, Big Noyd entre otros.

waited too long to listen to this one and now i can't stop playing it, I think I just kept forgetting to check it out once I heard it released. Octaves - Greener Pastures
stumbled upon these guys the other day and was instantly charmed by their list of influences, which included such greats as pg. 99. Their music didn't fail to deliver. Though obviously influenced by such bands as Dillinger, La Dispute, and The Chariot, Octaves still has their own sound, and it's a fantastic sound devoid of pussy singing and tacky sweeps.
From what I can tell, Octaves seems to be yet another tragically unrecognized band. I can see no reason that they don't have more than 304 listeners on last.fm.

The Almighty Defenders - The Almighty Defenders (2009)
Earlier this month I shared King Khan & the Shrines, so I won't give the story on who he is again. I will tell you that he and his current bandmate, Mark Sultan who is BBQ in the King Khan and BBQ Show, have been up to some collaborating. In this case with the members of the Black Lips while holing up with Khan in Berlin. Basically a garage rock jam session branded as a band. Though I think it was fully recorded it the studio, it has the roughness of a live recording. This is made all the better in that a main source of inspiration seems to be gospel, which is naturally meant to be preformed live. It certainly possesses a feeling of nostalgic reflection on the earlier period of rock music, when the influence of soul and gospel were readily apparent. This album isn't as fast-paced and jazzy as Khan's work with the shrines, but does feel very close to the most recent album with BBQ.

Fiends "We come for your beer"
1984 saw the release of many a classic album, so it was certain the Fiends "We've Come For Your Beer" would be overlooked. A tongue in cheek Californian horror show with track titles like "Riot in The Men's Room", "Die Bob Die" and "You Make Me Sick". This LP even features an MC5 cover of "Ramblin' Rose". Their sound veered more to the sillier side of punk, and to a kind of rockin' cowboy themed movie. BemisBrain Records released it and this remained popular for a few punks and Weekend Warriors.
They also released a second LP "Gynecology" that featured the top 10 hit "Hugh G. Erection" among other blockbusting hits.

Belle Epoque

Unwound + Versus - Split
Label: Troubleman
Year: 2000
Before Versus, there was a band called Flower, and after Flower, there was a band called Unwound. Versus and Unwound each picked a Flower song they liked, learned it (presumably easier for Versus since, you know, they had been in Flower), recorded it, and put it out on this cute little 7". Easy.
Now, it's no secret how much I like Unwound. I believe that has been made very clear, and I see no reason to reiterate that love now. Versus was a band I never really "liked" per se. They had one record that I can't remember the title of right now, that I did have (or still have I suppose) that was good, but otherwise they were a little too tame for my tastes. Which is strange considering how tame some of my record collection is, so maybe "tame" isn't the right descriptor, but they named themselves after a Mission Of Burma song if that tells you anything.
Their track is pleasant enough indie rock though, so I'm fine with it.
I won't pretend to say I ever heard Flower, so I don't know how these stack up to the originals, but if you like Unwound, then you should peep it. Unwound is worth the price of admission, which in this case is free, so not the greatest endorsement or analogy, but the point is, they are good, I love them, and this song is neat. There.

SNoRas
Snöras is a 4-piece screamo band from Norway featuring members of Angora Static and Lukestar that was formed in 2005. Here's their second album titled 'Plague Waters' which was released in 2008. The song titles are messed up, but I really don't care. Check this out if you haven't already. Enjoy.

Dr. Blount - Dr. Blount's Extended Sound Play

Final ConFlict: Self Titled 7 Inch
Artist: Final Conflict
Album: Self Titled 7"
Release: 1983
Label: Reflex
Tracklist:
1. All In The Family
2. The Lines Have Faded
3. Your
4. Self-Defeated
While a plethora of acts shared the name, the Midwestern, U.S.A.'s Final Conflict towers mightly above the rest, despite only having released one, four-song 7" that was produced by thee Bob Mould. This Final Conflict EP sounds like Cows And Beers-era Die Kreuzen mixed with United Mutation, all sung by a tougher-sounding Rebel Truth vocalist. Or something. Released in 1983 on Reflex, it came out around the same time as many 80s hardcore classics, like Mould's own Metal Circus, yet has suffered from an odd bout of obscurity, which is strange considering these four songs sound just as vibrant as anything created by their peers.
Less than a week ago, at Chaos in Tejas, I was pleasantly surprised to find out that this 7", like the first two Willful Neglect 12"s, has been repressed by Havoc and that there are still copies available. These two releases, both engineered by Steve Fjelsted, are classics that are not to be missed.

Album: Drunk On The Moon
Release: 1995
Label: Goldenrod

In the 90's, a friend of mine used to volunteer at a community college radio station. It didn't broadcast, except into the school cafeteria, but he got to chill and be part of the staff, ordering records and talking to labels. The dude got a stipend to work there one semester, and for some reason, the station manager, who happened to be a techno DJ, hated him, gave him bad reviews, and dude got fired, even though he knew he was requesting techno CDs from labels for the sole purpose of taking them home to use them in his DJ sets. So my bro did what anyone in their youth would do: take revenge. dude backed his mom's SUV, and took almost the entire punk/hardcore/indie vinyl collection, and most of the CDs.
Which is where dude got a promo copy of Drunk On The Moon by San Diego band No Knife. After getting pummeled by Vempire or Dark Faerytales in Phallustein and brought back down by Tigermilk, he sat in Montgomery County traffic and let No Knife wash over me so much emo/alt goodness. It was a sound so comfortable yet surprising at the same time. It's as though the push and pull of the era was focused into taut equilibrium; the angular-isms were relaxingly smoothed out. Not to say that it was a complete pop-ification of the genre (not unlike going from Nothing Feels Good to Very Emergency)- we have drummer Ike Zaremba and producer Mark Trombino to hold down the fort, giving No Knife the post-hardcore, later-era Jawbox, Drive Like Jehu-style edge that made them (on their first two albums) one of the best, yet underrated, post-hardcore/emo/alt bands of the 90's.
I found it hard to find Drunk On The Moon on the internet, so here you go, ripped from my personal CD copy that my friebd got in 1996. You should definitely also download Hit Man Dreams.

NacHut Report - 9th Overflowing...Milky Slaughterhouse...Dream Of Incubator (2010)
I want to begin by apologizing to bands that send me their stuff and I don't get around to it. I have a ton of music they I have already downloaded and listen to, new stuff that I just found, and get many albums sent to me by bands looking for some exposure. If I miss it is because of the volume of files I haven't got time to listen through, but I'd like help with this if there is anyone eager to post on the blog about the many albums submitted for sharing. The reason I bring this up is that NacHut Report is just such a group that has offer their album for free distribution on the internet. My eye got caught immediately by last.fm considering my follow, though currently defunct, co-writer Warren's music, Foxes in Fiction. The e-mail they sent me related that they are a Polish-Italian band and this is their first full-length album. It is certainly in the experimental vein, but that isn't giving too much detail. It has a bit of a noise/sound art feel to it but maintains a rather steady and enjoyable beat to it. Similar praise as the previously posted album, though this one has vocals it is they are hardly the sort the is gonna shake you out of concentration while nonetheless being handsomely done. Overall, it possesses a very modern tone to the album that is refreshing.

Yamamoto Seiichi - Nu Frequency (2003)
A change of pace of with this album. Yamamoto Seiichi is a Japanese musician that is a fixture of the independent scene in Osaka and he gained some notability when he worked with the illustrious noise rock group Boredoms. This is merely one of his several solo releases that he's been actively producing for over a decade. It is closer to this blog's namesake in that it could actually be classified as space rock. Naturally, as much space rock can be described it is like a crossing of ambient and noise without really being either genre, instead demonstrating something unique. Nu Frequency sounds like a collection of samples until you give it a long enough listen, so be warned. It has been really going well with my homemade wine I've been drinking due to lack of funds these days. Because it is instrumental it is a really good album to play when reading or writing, which I have trouble listening to lyrical driven songs during. Calmer than most of the things I have been posting lately yet not devoid of liveliness.

King Khan & The Shrines - What Is?! (2007)
Finally able and willing to post something since by return from the great nation of Canada. Suitably in honor of Montreal I am sharing one of my favorite musicians from that glorious city, I'd murder for a metro like that. I've previously shared The King Khan and BBQ Show on the blog, and that is the most recent King Khan project. However, there is the band preceding that, King Kahn & The Shrines. Khan is one of those musicians that shows is control of the genre by being able to seamlessly blend in various influences and styles into his songs. What Is?! doubtlessly has the traditional garage rock inspirations like The Stooges and MC5, but also borrows from the sleazier 90s garage scene without mimicking. Overall, a very happy, mildy-psychedelic album about having a good time.

Saccharine Trust =Surviving you Always
Punk rock Pagan Icons Saccharine Trust were definitely a band that didn't follow the generalization of their hardcore marketing campaign. Experimenting with fusion, art, free jazz as well as poetry, they remain true to the punk rock ethos. I saw this band play way back in the day when they opened for Black Flag on tour and with Earl on bass and the hypnotizing Jack Brewer on vocals, they left an impact on me, which is a lot to be said when you were opening for the mighty Flag.
Their first release "Pagan Icons" which was released in 1981, still remains my favorite record by the group, for "Surviving You Always" was far too forward thinking for my feeble hardcore mind back in the days. As of recent it's been getting a lot of listens here at the PNP commune. So grab a beret, sit down with some coffee and enjoy the sounds of the "Saccharine Trust band."

The Weirdos
